2024 gehen wir in das 8. Jahr, in dem wir mit dem fröhlichsten Jazzfestival Österreichs (14.-18. August 2024) dem traditionellen Jazz von Ragtime über Dixieland bis hin zum Swing und den Swingtänzen wie Lindy Hop, Shag, Balboa und Solo Jazz den Roten Teppich ausrollen.

Tradtionell verstehen wir nicht als „alt“ oder „verzopft“. Traditionell heißt, das Gute aus den Anfängen des Jazz bewahren, aber wachsam herumschauen, wo es Neues, Junges, Kreatives gibt. Außerdem sind programmatische Grenzen da, um gedehnt und überschritten zu werden.

2024 wird ein musikalisch extrem spannendes Jahr. Aber bevor ich mit Andeutungen und Superlativen nichts sage, schweige ich lieber, bis die Verträge unterschrieben sind. Und das wird demnächst sein.

Der Termin steht fest: Es sind die Tage 14.-18. August 2024, der Workshop für traditionelle Jazzmusik an der Musikschule Ilz findet vom 9.-11. August statt.

Welcome to the DIXIE- & SWINGFESTIVAL Weiz 2024 (AUSTRIA)

2024 marks the 8th year of the festival and we are rolling out the red carpet for Austria’s happiest jazz festival (August 14-18, 2024). Thematically, we dedicate ourselves to traditional jazz from ragtime to Dixieland to swing and swing dances from Lindy Hop to shag, balboa and solo jazz.

We do not understand traditional as „old“ or „rigid“. Traditional means preserving the good things from the beginnings of jazz, but keeping a watchful eye out for new, young and creative things.

2024 will be an extremely exciting year musically. But before I say nothing with allusions and superlatives, I’d rather keep quiet until the contracts are signed. And that will be in December.

The festival dates are August 14-18, 2024, and the workshop for traditional jazz music (beginners to moderately advanced) at the Ilz Music School will take place from August 9-11.
